The role for Alex Witherden has been set for 2021, West Coast senior coach Adam Simpson provided clarity on Tuesday night.
Witherden spent his career at Brisbane playing across half-back, he was traded to West Coast in the off-season.
Simpson confirmed a half-back role for Witherden in 2021, he recently joined the team for main training after a mandatory quarantine period in WA.
“He’ll play half-back, in a similar role that he did at Brisbane” Simpson stated via Sportsday.

Witherden will be an asset in the West Coast defence this season, he’s well suited to the Eagles game style.
“He knows he’s got to work really hard to get a spot, but we’re going to give him every chance.”
“He’s settled in quite well.” Simpson added.

AFL FANTASY TAKE
Witherden averaged 77.8pts from 6 games in 2020, he scored a season high 93pts in Round 9 against Essendon.
Again, the landing spot for Witherden is ideal with how the Eagles hold the ball across half-back at times. He should have plenty of opportunities to score well from a fantasy perspective.

Witherden is an option to start in defence in AFL Fantasy classic at Round 1, he should be a consideration if undrafted at the midway point of 10 team standard draft leagues.
