Round 20 of the 2021 H&A season begins on Friday night, @aflratingsPete ranks the Top 5 Trade Targets Under $300K in AFL Fantasy classic.Â
The following list is a balanced opinion of which players to target, the comments are important to acknowledge; ability, playing role, job security, cash generation & potential scoring output have an influence on the rank.Â
1. Finlay Macrae (Collingwood) MID/FWD $224K BE 22
Macrae was used through a midfield role last week against Port Adelaide, he recorded 21 Disposals & 5 Marks for 71pts. He was used at 51.9% of centre bounces. If that role is maintained for the remainder of the season his scoring rate should be pretty decent, his ability to accelerate the fantasy scoring in a midfield role is certainly noteworthy.Â
Season Ave: 34.0
Â
2. Connor West (West Coast) MID $237K BE -5
Despite just 47pts last week West still has a very appealing BE (Break Even), he recorded 11 Disposals & 3 Marks against the Saints in Round 19. He found most of his ball out on a wing for the Eagles, that role should be enough to keep the scores ticking over at a decent level in the short term.Â
Season Ave: 61.5
Â
3. Sam Durham (Essendon) DEF/MID $221K BE -8
Durham scored 65pts against the Giants last week in just his second game at AFL level, he recorded 15 Disposals & 7 Marks. He played mostly out on a wing for the Bombers, the role looks solid in the short to medium with a potential decent scoring output.
Season Ave: 57.0

4. Trey Ruscoe (Collingwood) FWD $262K BE -7
Ruscoe has settled in well across half-back for the Magpies over the last couple of weeks, he has averaged 71.5pts from his last 2 games. The Magpies are likely to continue to develop him in this role for the remainder of the season, his run & carry has added a different dynamic to the Collingwood team.
Season Ave: 38.3

5. James Peatling (GWS) MID/DEF $170K BE 24
Peatling will make his AFL debut this week, he was selected in the mid-season draft by the Giants. He is well suited to a half-back role, he has averaged 23.1 Disposals & 7.0 Marks in the VFL this season.
Peatling will likely outperform his salary quite easily.
Season Ave: N/A
