Lohmann was a specific target in the 2021 AFL Draft, Lions coach Chris Fagan reflected the thoughts of the recruiting team on selecting the Ballarat youngster at pick 20.
“For us it was a bit of a no-brainer, we’ll keep going down our own pathway & picking the players that we think are going to help us.” Fagan said.
Fagan also acknowledged the the electric skills of Lohmann.
“He’s fast & athletic, can do some freakish things.” Fagan added.

2022 AFL Fantasy: Jacob van Rooyen
Lohmann averaged 14.3 Disposals, 4.7 Marks & 3.3 Tackles from 9 games in the NAB League in 2021.
Fantasy Impact: Kai Lohmann will add a different dynamic to the Brisbane forward line, his speed & ability to take a strong mark will be an asset once he fully develops.
The short term fantasy prospects could be limited for Lohmann, his scoring output could be volatile playing in a forward role early on in his career.
The scoring output should increase once he develops & becomes stronger, but still his fantasy output is linked to his specific role in the team.
Lohmann is likely a pass in season long fantasy at Round 1, it’s worth monitoring his progress over pre-season which could outline his fantasy opportunities in 2022.
He’s a pass in single season draft leagues, he’s an option well beyond the early selections in dynasty leagues.
