Sam Hayes is closing in on his AFL debut.
Close to making an appearance last year with Scott Lycett unavailable the 22 year old ruck will be close at Round 1 this year with key forward Charlie Dixon unavailable.
Port Adelaide captain Tom Jonas provided an update via 5AA on Wednesday.
