AFL News: Josh Rachele has provided an update on his role in 2023.
He was selected at pick 6 in the 2021 AFL Draft by Adelaide and played 13 games in his first season.
Rachele was hampered by a hip injury and was unable to return late in the season.

Speaking on SEN earlier this week Rachele confirmed he did remain at the club overcoming that hip injury at the close of the season in order to be fully prepared for 2023.
“This upcoming season is just about getting another pre-season under my belt,”
“Getting fitter and stronger and hopefully kind of pushing down on that more midfield/forward (role) for the next year hopefully.”

Rachele also provided insight into his role for next season which is likely to include being used at centre bounces then moving to a forward role.
“Yeah definitely that’s something I’ll be looking to kind of achieve no rush at all, I think that’s where my craft is up forward of the ball.”

“But I did get some experiences this year rolling into some cb’s (centre bounces) which is exciting,”
“That’s definitely something which I’ll be trying to go through next year of course.”
Fantasy Impact: Josh Rachele averaged 52.1pts from 13 games in 2022 at Adelaide, he scored a season high 101pts against Essendon in Round 4.
He averaged 11.2 disposals, 2.8 marks, 1.8 tackles & 1.3 goals.
Rachele scored fewer than 80pts in 84.6% of games.
It is expected he will see a sprinkling of midfield usage at a minimum which includes centre bounces in 2023 but will predominately play a forward role.

There is upside scoring potential for Rachele in 2023, it is likely inconsistent scoring may be a factor in any decision for season long fantasy because you can pretty much guarantee he will be closely guarded by high quality defenders when moving forward as was the case in 2022.
He’s a late round option in standard draft leagues.
