Ginbey is a powerful midfielder that can also hold down a defensive role.Â
West Coast National Recruiting Manager Rohan O’Brien provided a brief update before Ginbey was selected.
“Reuben is certainly a very talented player,”
“He’s had a really good year starting off with league footy at East Perth and then went back and played school footy at Wesley and had a strong carnival for WA.”Â
“I think he could start in either role and do it very well.”
Ginbey also averaged 20.8 disposals, 2.8 marks and 4.0 tackles from 4 games in the 2022 U18 National Championships.Â

Fantasy Impact: Reuben Ginbey will add a power element to the West Coast midfield and is very capable in defence. Â
He is very strong in clearance situations and has an ability to break through tackles, he also has a very good ability to read the play well that compliments his strong marking in a defensive role.Â
The short term fantasy prospects are likely to be quite good, West Coast have declared a development strategy that includes playing youth. Ginbey should see multiple opportunities at AFL level in 2023.

His long term prospects are likely very good, he has the potential to become an elite powerful midfielder in the AFL. His fantasy scoring rate should be quite healthy.Â
Season long fantasy: Ginbey is a consideration if he is named at Round 1, it is worth keeping a track of his early role throughout pre-season which could impact his fantasy scoring output in 2023.Â
Single season draft leagues: He’s likely a late round option in single season draft leagues. Â
DFS: He’ll be a target early especially if he’s in a midfield role combined with what should be a low entry level salary. Â
