Allan is a raw athletic midfielder that can play through multiple roles.
Collingwood GM of List Management Derek Hine provided a brief update after Allan was selected.
“His athletic profile is off the charts, not very often you can bring a player in 194 (cm) with that type of profile.”
“He’s capable as that high half-forward/high half-back, clearly through the midfield, he’s extremely well balanced.” Hine said.
Allan also recorded 13 disposals, 5 marks, 2 tackles and 1 goal from 1 game in the 2022 U18 National Championships.

Fantasy Impact: Ed Allan will add depth to the Collingwood midfield.
He will be a difficult opponent once he fully develops, he is quite smooth at ground level and has an ability to work through congestion with a level of confidence and ease.
The short term fantasy prospects could be moderate, he was impacted by injury early in 2022. His entry at AFL level will be based on his ability to develop quickly. His fantasy scoring rate is likely to be decent through a midfield role.

His long term prospects could be quite good, he has enormous potential at this stage and could become a dominant midfielder. His fantasy scoring rate through a midfield role would likely be very good.
Season long fantasy: Allan will be a consideration when he makes his AFL debut, it is worth tracking his progress and exact role throughout pre-season. 2023 could be a developing year for Allan, however Collingwood weren’t afraid to play youth in 2022.
Single season draft leagues: He’s likely a very late round speculative option in single season draft leagues.
DFS: He could be a consideration early through any type of midfield role especially at a low entry level salary.
