Weddle is an athletic key defender that is quite strong in marking contests.Â
Hawthorn National List and Recruiting Manager Mark McKenzie provided a brief update after Weddle was selected.
“He can play a number of positions, and athletically he is really strong – he’s 192cm and has not only high endurance but also speed.” McKenzie said.
Weddle also averaged 15.0 disposals, 3.8 marks and 3.0 tackles from 4 games in the 2022 U18 National Championships.Â

He reads the play well and has a strong ability to intercept mark, he has excellent speed that will assist in ball transition.Â
The short term fantasy prospects could be quite decent, Hawthorn are clearly in a development stage that is likely to provide him multiple opportunities at AFL level in 2023. His fantasy scoring output could be quite solid early in his career.
