AFL Fantasy Analysis: Henry Hustwaite was selected at pick 37 in the 2022 AFL Draft by Hawthorn, he was recruited from Dandenong Stingrays.

Hustwaite is a tall composed midfielder that can work through congestion with ease.

Hawthorn National List and Recruiting Manager Mark McKenzie provided a brief update after Hustwaite was selected.

“To get Henry in there who we rate highly, again another midfielder but a different midfielder as a 194/195 (cm), got elite hands, wins the footy.” McKenzie said.

Hustwaite also averaged 21.0 disposals, 3.5 marks and 3.5 tackles from 4 games in the 2022 U18 National Championships.

Fantasy Impact: Henry Hustwaite will add quality depth to the Hawthorn midfield.

He is smooth in traffic and finds the ball comfortably. He has the ability to accumulate disposals at a high rate through the middle of the ground.

The short term fantasy prospects could be decent, Hawthorn are clearly in a reset which should provide multiple opportunities to younger players this season. His fantasy scoring rate should be strong if playing as a pure mid.

His long term prospects could be quite good, he certainly has the attributes to becoming a quality AFL midfielder which should also deliver a strong fantasy scoring output. .

Season long fantasy: Hustwaite is an option when he makes his AFL debut, he’s certainly one to watch for development over pre-season and for any debut potential. His scoring rate should be decent if given an opportunity to play through the midfield.

Single season draft leagues: He’s likely a pass in single season draft leagues.

DFS: He’ll be a consideration at a low entry level salary especially as a pure midfielder.
