Ben Hobbs

Essendon have been hit with multiple injuries which has opened up significant opportunities through the midfield including centre bounces. The work in and around stoppage situations for Hobbs has been noteworthy in recent games which would compliment a role adjustment if given the green light by senior coach Brad Scott. Hobbs has shown an ability to win enough ball on the outside, combine that with an inside midfield role should provide a decent scoring output.

Strong value if the midfield role eventuates.

Jordan DeGoey

The centre bounce usage for Jordan DeGoey has been strong this season but his fantasy scoring output has been quite volatile. He has scored fewer than 80pts in 50.0% of games this season. Collingwood are not a team that requires mids to accumulate high disposal numbers. It is unlikely DeGoey can consistently post elite fantasy numbers for the remainder of the season.

Elevated risk.

Lachie Ash

Ash has put together a couple of strong scoring games and has a promising game upcoming against the Saints. His role across half-back continues to provide excellent fantasy scoring opportunities. The Giants have conceded more inside 50s than their opponents in the majority of games this season which provides additional fantasy scoring opportunities for Ash. The injuries to Sam Taylor and Isaac Cumming have resulted in a change in personnel in defence for the Giants, both are several weeks away from a return. Ash should continue to see plenty of distribution opportunities for the upcoming period in his current role.

Value based on current salary and scoring output

Matthew Kennedy

Kennedy has been moved back to the starting 22 and should see strong inside midfield usage. With Cripps getting most of the attention from opposition teams Kennedy can get to work inside the contest which is likely to keep his fantasy scores ticking over at a strong rate. Unfortunately over his career he has been unable to put together a complete season through non-selection or injury which is a concern.

Previous durability issues but a healthy scoring rate.

Bailey Humphrey

Humphrey has been very solid the last couple of weeks but the concern has been his restricted game time in his first year. Senior coach Stuart Dew has stated in recent weeks that they will limit the playing time for Humphrey which likely inhibits his fantasy scoring output. A sprinkling of centre bounce usage was a positive for Humphrey last week but the match up against West Coast allowed for further development.

An increase in game minutes would be more appealing.
