Jon Patton has been traded to Hawthorn, he has played 89 games for GWS after being selected at Pick 1 in the 2011 AFL Draft.

Patton did not play in 2019 & last played in Round 15 in 2018, he underwent his 3rd knee reconstruction after rupturing his ACL.

“Jon has been part of building the club to where we are today and we thank him for his contribution over the past eight years.” GM of Football Wayne Campbell.

Patton has since returned to training for the Giants this year, he is expected to be ready for day 1 of pre-season at the Hawks.

“Physically, he is absolutely flying” Giants List Manager, Jason McCartney on Jon Patton recently.

Patton averaged 13.6 Disposals, 4.8 Marks, 2.7 Tackles & 0.8 Goals from 12 games in 2018.

“We are really excited about the versatility he brings to our forward line, and at just 26 years of age we feel like he still has his best footy ahead of him” Hawthorn GM of Football, Graham Wright.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

Selecting key forwards is not an optimal early strategy in season long fantasy, Patton averaged 70.4pts in 2018 & 74.8pts from 22 games in 2017.

Patton has been in full training according to Giants List Manager Jason McCartney recently, the Hawks will still likely be somewhat patient based on other recruits with an injury history arriving at the club.

Patton is a pass in classic & a very late round flyer in deep draft leagues only.
