Wil Powell requires further knee surgery to assist in his recovery, he injured his knee last season and after medical consultation it was decided that surgery was the best long term course of action.

Powell is now expected to miss the start of the 2020 season at Gold Coast.

“After a number of discussions with Wil, club medical staff and the surgeon, it was determined that further surgery would provide him with the best chance to play without pain in his knee in the future.” Suns GM of Football Operations Jon Haines.

Powell averaged 12.2 Disposals, 3.5 Marks & 2.7 Tackles from 13 games in 2019, he has played in 20 games since making his debut in Round 15 in 2018.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

Further injuries do open up the possibility that the Gold Coast 2019 draftees may play a big part early in the season, definitely a team to watch in pre-season games for potential rookies.

Powell is a pass in both classic & draft.
