Essendon midfielder Dyson Heppell has been ruled out for Round 1, he has been continuing his rehabilitation from a foot injury.

Heppell was restricted late last year and missed games as a result, he recently underwent minor surgery to remove a screw from his injured foot.

“It’s good to make the call (to miss) now. It’s a long season and I’m continuing to manage the rehab around the foot,”

“It’s probably progressing a bit slower than we’d like, but I’m working closely with the medical team, so we’ll take the conservative approach for round one and go from there.” Dyson Heppell.
