Collingwood key tall Ben Reid has sustained a calf injury at training this week, he is expected to miss an extended period.
The Magpies will likely be cautious with Reid who just turned 31, he played just 8 games last season.
Update June 1: Reid is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
“Ben was jogging when he felt his calf go. We had been easing him back as a precaution due to the intense, short block of training the players have before round two. We’ll know more about the severity of the injury in coming days but at this stage it looks like it is significant”
“Certainly, with a re-start to the season on the doorstep, he is going to miss some matches.” Collingwood GM of Football, Geoff Walsh.
Reid averaged 9.6 Disposals, 3.4 Marks, 1.4 Goals from 8 games in 2019.

AFL FANTASY TAKE
Reid is now likely a back-up tall forward/defensive option for Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley, given his injury history it will be difficult for him to force his way back into the team this season if the Magpies are running with a relatively healthy list.
Reid is not considered an option in season long fantasy.
