Injury Update: Jake Stringer

Essendon midfielder/forward Jake Stringer has been sidelined with an ankle injury, he landed on his ankle late in the final Qtr against Collingwood on Friday night.

Stringer did not travel with the team to Queensland, he will instead rehab his ankle in Melbourne.

Stringer underwent surgery (Syndesmosis) earlier this week, he will be out for an extended period.

“He underwent surgery on Sunday to enhance the stability of that joint. He’s in a moon boot now and will be for the next couple of weeks.”

“We are adopting a conservative approach to managing this injury and he will remain in a boot for the next six weeks before we start to load the foot again.” Bombers Head of Medical Services David Rundle.

Stringer averaged 8.5 Disposals, 2.8 Marks, 3.8 Tackles & 2.5 Goals from his opening 4 games in 2020.

The injury to Stringer opens up plenty of CBA’s at the Bombers, Zach Merrett returns from suspension in Round 6 while Darcy Parsih & Devon Smith have spent most of the year starting in the forward line. All 3 could see an increase at CBA’s with Stringer sidelined.
