Fantasy: The role for Adam Cerra in 2021

You can add Adam Cerra into the group playing midfield at Fremantle in 2021, assistant coach Josh Carr praised the 21 year old in an interview with Nathan Schmook (afl.com.au).

“I see him being one of our inside midfielders,” Josh Carr told afl.com.au.

Cerra averaged 17.4 Disposals, 3.0 Marks & 3.8 Tackles in 2020, he was used at 24.9% of Fremantle centre bounces.

The midfield usage is likely to increase for Cerra in 2021 according to Carr.

“But at this stage his role will be minutes inside as a midfielder & being one of our starting mids every week.”

“We rate him really highly as an inside midfielder.”

AFL FANTASY TAKE

Cerra averaged 66.1pts from 17 games in 2020, he scored a season high 104pts in Round 11 against Hawthorn. Interestingly, Cerra wasn’t used at all at centre bounces in that game.

The Fremantle midfield will take on a new look this season & that will include Cerra, David Mundy is likely to receive less time in at centre bounces while Caleb Serong should see an increase.

Nathan Fyfe, Andrew Brayshaw, Michael Walters, Darcy Tucker & Connor Blakely were also used at centre bounces last season.

If Cerra is to be used at a high rate through the midfield this season then he is value at Round 1, if there is going to be a wide distribution of centre bounces at the Dockers in 2021 then his scores may fluctuate.

Cerra is a decent investment in AFL Fantasy classic to begin the season & this needs to be taken into consideration, he likely moves up draft rank in 10 standard draft leagues.
