Bombers GM of Football Josh Mahoney provided an update on Tuesday.
“Scans in recent days have unfortunately confirmed a significant hamstring injury for James. After a very strong pre-season, James was beginning to feel comfortable in the team as a key defender.
“This is his first soft-tissue strain, but we look forward to his recovery and getting him back for still a large portion of the season,” Mahoney said.

AFL FANTASY TAKE
Stewart averaged 40.1pts from 10 games in 2020, he scored a season high 62pts in Round 11 against Gold Coast.
Stewart was set to start in a key defensive role for the Bombers this season, Cale Hooker may be sent to the backline to provide support or it likely creates an opening early in the season.
