Brisbane National Recruiting Manager Stephen Conole provided an update on Tunstill post-draft.

“We are thrilled to bring James into the footy club and are excited to discover how much growth he has in his game going forward,’’

“This was his first full season in a pathway program and even then, he was still based in Busselton and had to travel to Perth for his games at East Perth and WA.”

“He is a player with a strong all-round athletic base, who is competitive and works with real intent from contest to contest.’’ Conole said.

2022 AFL Fantasy: Corey Warner

Tunstill averaged 21.6 Disposals, 3.3 Marks & 3.2 Tackles from 15 games in the WAFL Colts in 2021.

Fantasy Impact: James Tunstill will add depth through the midfield at Brisbane, he’s an athletic type player that is highly skilled.

He has excellent speed & works well through traffic, he has a strong work rate & can accumulate disposals at a high level.

The short term fantasy prospects for Tunstill could be limited, he’ll need time to develop his body in order to adapt at AFL level.

The longer term prospects likely are quite decent, if he settles into a midfield role at the Lions his scoring output should be strong. His rate of development will be critical.

If Tunstill can find his way into the Brisbane team in 2022 then he is worth consideration in season long fantasy, his excellent ball use will be an asset for the Lions.

He’s a pass in single season draft leagues, he’s in the mix to be an option just beyond the early picks in dynasty leagues. He could provide decent fantasy output over his career if he primarily plays through the midfield.
