Draper entered the AFL system coming off shoulder surgery approximately 8 weeks prior to the AFL Draft, he’ll remain in non-contact training for the upcoming period.

“Short term goal for me is get my should right,”

“It’s just get that right, and get back into full pre-season training.”

“And complete the pre-season without any more interruptions, that’s the short term goal,” Draper said on SENSA post-draft.

He also has been allocated to the forward group in his first pre-season & has a goal of making his AFL debut in 2022.

“Long term, I’m just hoping to play at some point next year.”

“I’m trying not to put too much expectation on it.”

“The main goal is hopefully get a senior game at some point next year & hold my spot when I do.”

“I’ve been put in the forward group, but also doing a little bit of work as a developing mid.” Draper added.

2022 AFL Fantasy: Zac Taylor

Draper averaged 24.1 Disposals, 4.0 Marks & 5.0 Tackles from 9 games in the SANFL U18s in 2021, he averaged 11.0 Disposals, 5.0 Marks & 2.5 Tackles from 2 SANFL games.

Fantasy Impact: Arlo Draper will add versatility to the Collingwood list, he has the ability to play through the midfield & play as a marking half-forward type.

He is highly competitive an applies high pressure on his opponents, he also has strong game awareness & can hit targets at a high rate.

The short term fantasy prospects may only be moderate for Draper, the Magpies will be cautious with his recent shoulder surgery plus he needs to develop his body throughout his first season at the Magpies.

The longer term prospects could be quite appealing, at some stage he is likely to progress through to a midfield role which could provide a decent scoring output if that is his primary role.

Draper would be a possible consideration for season long fantasy, his opportunities may only come later in the 2022 season.

He’s a pass in single season draft leagues, he’s an option just beyond the early picks in dynasty leagues.
