GM of list and recruiting Adrian Dodoro provided an update on Lord post-draft.
“He’s a rebounding defender with terrific speed who uses the ball.”
“We think he can play as a pressure forward, which is an area we’ve wanted to build on our list, so therefore we thought he’d be a really good pick,”
“Despite the fact he had a couple of injuries this season, we tracked him all year and felt he’d be a terrific player for us.” Dodoro said.

Lord averaged 22.4 Disposals, 5.4 Marks & 2.2 Tackles from 5 games in the SANFL U18s in 2021.
Fantasy Impact: Alastair Lord will add a speed dynamic to the Essendon list, having played predominantly as a running half-back in his 2021 season the Bombers may look at developing him as a small forward.
He is sharp & elusive through traffic, he also provides high pressure.
The short term fantasy prospects for Lord may be moderate, his attribute of providing high pressure could result in opportunities in 2022.
The longer term prospects are directly linked to his primary role, as a small forward his scoring is likely to be limited & inconsistent but as a line breaking half-back the output could be decent.
Lord is an option in season long fantasy throughout the season if he can force his way into the Essendon team, it would depend on availability & potential scoring output of others around his salary for a final decision.
He’s a pass in single season draft leagues, he may be worth taking a flyer on late in dynasty leagues.
