West Coast Update: Campbell Chesser

Campbell Chesser provided an update on his expectations for the 2022 season, he recently joined the Eagles for the first time since being drafted.

He was selected at pick 14 in the 2021 AFL Draft by West Coast, he was recruited from Sandringham Dragons.

Chesser said last week he was still settling into the club, he’s not thinking too far ahead to an early season debut.

“If I can put my name forward, that’s definitely something that I want to be able to do.”

“At the moment not really focused too much on the games & stuff,

“Just kind of been settling into the club to be honest.”

“Once games do kick-in, obviously that’s the aspiration for any young kid coming into the system to play an AFL game.”

“Hopefully I can get there one day, at the moment not too focused on it.” Chesser said on Sportsday WA.

He averaged 18.3 Disposals, 3.0 Marks & 1.7 Tackles from 3 games in the NAB League in 2021.

Fantasy Impact: Campbell Chesser will begin his early development as a midfielder, the Eagles do have plenty of experience currently running through the middle of the ground.

He may be up against it early to break into the Eagles midfield rotation, senior coach Adam Simpson has previously shown a tendency to be patient with young draftees.

Chesser will likely be a consideration at some stage throughout 2022 in season long fantasy, it’s worth tracking his pre-season progress for rate of development.

He remains a late round speculative option only in single season draft leagues, he’s an option just beyond the high priority picks in dynasty leagues.
