“No surgery required, it’s a hamstring injury.”
“Obviously with his history it will take a little bit longer to repair, but really unfortunate he was training so well, had a really good block of training.“
“He will go through the normal recovery procedure, he’s still pretty upbeat and there’s still plenty of time before round one.”
“We’re still optimistic we’re going to get a good season out of Luke, he’s an elite preparer.”
“It’s a setback, but I don’t think it’s disastrous.” he said.
Simpson expects Shuey to return to full training in a “couple of weeks”, also confirming he still could be available for Round 1.
“We’re still aiming for round one.” Simpson added.
Shuey averaged 23.0 Disposals, 3.3 Marks & 4.3 Tackles from 7 games in 2021.

Fantasy Impact: Shuey averaged 87.6pts from 7 games in 2021, he scored a season high 127pts in Round 3 against Port Adelaide.
The positive update for Shuey places him in the picture to play Round 1, the Eagles will still likely remain conservative but the constant injury issues are a concern long term.
Shuey was used at 68.9% of centre bounces in 2021 in games he played in, expect strong centre bounce usage again in 2022.

He’s a pass in season long fantasy, simply far too risky with his recent injury issues.
He’s an option way beyond the premium midfielders in single season draft leagues.
