There is clarity on the role for Cam Rayner ahead of the 2022 AFL season.
Brisbane strategy coach Marks Stone provided insight on Rayner via SENSA this week with information on his current ability to run through a midfield role as well as having an impact up forward.

“It’s good to have Cam Rayner back, he’s fit and strong.”
“I think his best footy is through the midfield but he’s still building his aerobic capacity, his ability to stay in there for long periods.”
“Having said that though, he is a pretty good forward because I think he’s about 186-187 (cm), but for his size he’s very good overhead.”
“He’s one of those power type burst players in the mould of sort of (Christian) Petracca style where he’s probably going to play in between both roles for the rest of his career really even though he’s very good around the ball.”
Stone also confirmed the quality pre-season from Lachie Neale.
“I’ve known Lachie Neale for a long time, I had 6 years with him at Fremantle.”
“It’s the best I’ve ever seen him condition wise, he’s in very good nick.” he said.
UPDATE 24 FEB:
Brisbane Senior coach Chris Fagan provided an update this week on Rayner.
“He’ll play more minutes in the midfield this year which was the plan coming into last season, but he’ll definitely have some longer times in there.”
“He won’t be in there for huge amounts of time but he’ll be in there more than he’s ever been and obviously be a great attribute for us up forward.”
