The plan was to play Nick Daicos more through the middle of the ground against Hawthorn.
Daicos put on the Collingwood jumper for the first time this week and impressed though the midfield which also included centre bounces.
Assistant coach Scott Selwood provided a brief summary on the new Magpie draftee post game.

“We probably wanted to get him in the middle a little a bit more at times,”
“But it was exciting just to see him go out there and be able to experience wearing of Collingwood jumper officially.”
“I know it’s still only pre-season but there’s a lot of anticipation obviously for Nick but we just want him to feel like another draftee coming into the system,”
“Of course I know there’s going to be external pressure on Nick but we just want him to feel like he can slot into our system and play our way and bring his strengths to the table.”
“We definitely saw elements of that today, so really excited at what he’s going to bring to us.” Selwood said.
Collingwood Update: Jordan DeGoey
Selwood stated Isaac Quaynor will be in concussion protocol, that will rule him out of the game against GWS this week with the hope that he’ll be available for Round 1.
Assistant coach Hayden Skipworth confirmed earlier this week that Jeremy Howe (Groin) and Jordan DeGoey (Broken rib) are currently expected to be available for Round 1.
