NEWS
An important part of pre-season for fantasy coaches is deciphering between news & information that is relevant compared to news & information that is not so relevant, the most important aspect is that we get as much information as possible no matter how repetitive it seems & we can then decide what is coach speak or how real it is when it is distributed.
Geelong could be set for an adjustment in game style in 2019, Chris Scott & Nigel Lappin have mentioned change repeatedly since the end of the 2018 season. As the pre-season progresses fantasy coaches should take as much information on board for any potential impact for individual players.
A season of change ahead for Geelong
Midfielder Ryan Clarke joined the Swans at pre-season training today and spoke about his opportunity for the 2019 season.
“I’m.. looking forward to adding a few more strings to my bow, like consistency, getting a bit better on the inside & adding some polish on the outside” Ryan Clarke.
Clarke was traded from the Kangaroos in the 2018 Trade Period, he averaged 19.7 Disposals last season (AFL Fantasy Ave: 70.4, SuperCoach Ave: 65.5). Clarke should be a late draft consideration in deep draft leagues with potential upside.

PORT ADELAIDE
New Port Adelaide midfield coach Jarrad Schofield has put forward Ryan Burton as a potential option for midfield usage next season, Burton was traded from the Hawks in the 2018 Trade Period.
“I’d love him to (play in the midfield).. He’s another one you add to your depth.. I’ll be putting his name up” Midfield Coach Jarrad Schofield on Ryan Burton
Burton averaged 16.9 Disposals in 2018 which was a slight regression compared to his 21.3 Disposal average in 2017, a change to a more defensive role last season impacted his fantasy output.
AFL Fantasy
Burton averaged 84.4pts in 2017 & 61.9pts in 2018
SuperCoach
Burton averaged 83.7pts in 2017 & 65.7pts in 2018

AFL FANTASY ANALYSIS
Clayton Oliver was able to take his fantasy game to a new level in 2018, playing in just his 3rd AFL season he averaged 107.2pts from 25 games.
Oliver averaged 104.8pts from his first 14 games before going on a 6 games stretch in which he averaged 128.0pts, he failed to score 100pts over his final 5 games and averaged 90.4pts.
Oliver scored 100pts or more in 56.0% of games & 120pts or more from 32.0% of games in 2018, this was a decent improvement compared to 2017.

Oliver is a clear standout in the midfield at Melbourne, the emergence of Angus Brayshaw & James Harmes and a fully fit Jack Viney will likely result in Oliver holding his strong AFL Fantasy average in 2019.
Melbourne averaged 391.0 Disposals in the 2018 H&A season (Rank 2), the Demons averaged 1648.2 Team Fantasy Points last season (Rank 2).
