NEWS

We haven’t even hit Summer and yet there is much to digest, the AFL Draft is next week which means we are not far away from all 18 clubs finalising their team lists for the 2019 season. Clubs will now also be able to sign players via the rookie list between December 1 & March 15 to replace retired or seriously injured players.

A season of change ahead for Geelong

Wayne Milera looks set to continue his role across Half-Back for the Crows in 2019 after speaking today, he played 19 games last season and averaged 19.4 Disposals.

“I’m training (at half-back) at the moment, but I’m open to anything, we’ll see how we go.. I’m happy to play wherever” Wayne Milera

Milera averaged 75.3pts in AFL Fantasy & 79.8pts in SuperCoach last season.

Fantasy Impact: 2019 Rule Changes

It was a very slow start to his career for high draft pick Luke Davies-Uniacke in 2018, he averaged 10.4 Disposals from 7 games.

“It’s always good knowing what you got to do now & how hard you need to train” Luke Davies-Uniacke speaking on his second pre-season today.

Davies-Uniacke averaged 40.3pts in AFL Fantasy & 40.4pts in SuperCoach last season, he should be on your watch-list this pre-season in both formats for a potential breakout year.

Checking out the box score for Davies-Uniacke in both JLT Series games is a must, he still might be a pass but considering his low salary and 12 months in the AFL system he certainly is worth keeping an eye on.

Davies-Uniacke was drafted as an elite ball winning midfielder from the TAC Cup & U18 National Championship competitions.

GOLD COAST

Nathan Freeman visited with the Suns on Monday and is an option to be selected as a Delisted Free Agent, he has managed just 2 games in his career after being drafted in 2013 at Pick 10.

Freeman averaged 16.5 Disposals from his 2 games last season at the Saints (AFL Fantasy Ave: 62.5, SuperCoach Ave: 74.0), if he is selected by Gold Coast he could be considered as a deep draft bench option with limited upside. He is a borderline season long AFL Fantasy & SuperCoach option.

AFL FANTASY ANALYSIS

Todd Goldstein was able to bounce back from a disappointing 2017 to average in the 90’s once again, after averaging 83.9pts from his opening 12 games Goldy finished the 2018 H&A season strongly by averaging 104.7pts from his final 10 games.

Goldstein scored 100pts or more in 36.4% of games & 120pts or more from 13.6% of games in 2018, this was an improvement compared to 2017.

There are a few reasons to be optimistic on Todd Goldstein next season & none more so than the trade of back-up Ruck Braydon Preuss to Melbourne virtually securing the solo Ruck spot for Goldy, additionally the second half of the 2018 season for Goldstein was certainly noteworthy.

The search for a second Ruck to compliment the popular Brodie Grundy will be a critical key to success in 2019 for fantasy coaches, historically Goldstein has given us 1 year averaging more than 100pts and with trades at a premium selecting a mid-long term Ruck option is necessary to begin the season.

Goldstein will be in the mix for a few fantasy coaches during the pre-season, early season match-ups will be crucial in the decision making process.
