Hawthorn key tall Jack Gunston has been sidelined from pre-season training with an ankle injury, he underwent surgery early this week.

Gunston is expected to return to training in early February.

“Jack is now home recovering and looking forward to getting back into training in the new year, with a view to return to training as soon as possible” Hawthorn Football Manager, Graham Wright.

Gunston averaged 14.8 Disposals. 5.3 Marks & 1.2 Goals from 21 games for the Hawks in 2019, he has played in 95.2% of games since the beginning of the 2013 H&A season.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

It appears likely Gunston will still make Round 1, if not the stocks for Jon Patton will rise in his likely debut for the Hawks.

Patton will be a Ruck/Fwd DPP for the 2020 season but remains relatively costly compared to others likely to be selected at R3.

Gunston won’t be a consideration for season long fantasy, he is still a viable option as a mid to late round draft selection depending on the depth of your draft league.

Gunston averaged 72.5pts in 2019, well down from his average of 86.5pts in 2018.
