Mitch Duncan has undergone minor surgery on his hip, he will be sidelined from pre-season training until January.

Duncan injured his knee (Medial) in the Qualifying Final against Collingwood, he missed the next two Finals for the Cats.

Duncan returned to 2020 pre-season training in the rehab group & was progressing well.

“I’ve started agility & a little bit of footy content Tuesday & we’ll just build from there now.” Mitch Duncan (November 21)

The latest surgery is a setback for Duncan in his preparation for the 2020 H&A season.

“It was a minor procedure & that will set him back a little bit but we still feel he has got a lot of time to get himself right for Round 1” Geelong Football Manager, Simon Lloyd.

Duncan averaged 25.3 Disposals & 7.5 Marks from 23 games for the Cats in 2019, he has played in 94.8% of games since the beginning of the 2016 H&A season.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

Completing a full pre-season for AFL players cannot be emphasised enough when playing season long fantasy, the additional surgery is a setback for Duncan.

Duncan averaged averaged 112.3pts between Rounds 1-12 pre-Bye in 2019, he averaged 97.6pts post-Bye for a H&A season average of 105.6pts.

Given his likely high price tag to begin the season in classic Duncan is likely to be overlooked by many, his ownership should be low at Round 1.

Duncan can be slightly lowered in your draft rankings.
