Geelong defender Jake Kolodjashnij has been sidelined from pre-season training with a hip injury, as a result of the injury he underwent surgery this week.

Kolodjashnij is expected to be sidelined for at least 6 weeks, he almost certainly will now miss the start of the 2020 H&A season with his time frame to resume running set at early March.

Kolodjashnij averaged 11.0 Disposals, 4.7 Marks & 1.4 Tackles for the Cats in 2019, he has played in 86.5% of games since the beginning of the 2016 H&A season. .

Kolodjashnij is considered a pass in both classic & draft, missing the opening of the 2020 season will change up the defensive mix early in the season for the Cats.
