The Coleman Medal race in 2020 looks to be wide open, not since Josh Kennedy (WC) in 2016 has there been a repeat winner.

The average winning total has been 67.0 Goals between 2017-19.

Last year Jeremy Cameron kicked 9 Goals (Season Goals: 67) against Gold Coast in Round 23 to defeat Ben Brown by 3 Goals, Cameron assumed the Coleman Medal lead in Round 3 only to give it up in Round 22 prior to his winning effort in the Giants final game of the H&A season.

2020 Coleman Medal Preview

Jeremy Cameron GWS $4.25

The Giants could be a very high scoring team in 2020, Cameron will no doubt benefit in that scenario. Cameron kicked 3 Goals or more in 14 of 20 games in the 2019 H&A season, an injury free season will see him right in contention at the back end of 2020.

Tom Lynch RIC $4.50

Despite coming off an injury riddled 2018 in his final year at Gold Coast Lynch rebounded well playing every game for Richmond in 2019, he finished with 54 Goals which was 13 behind Cameron in the H&A season.

Lynch will likely split the Goals with Jack Riewoldt, Dustin Martin and the small forwards at the Tigers in 2020, that will likely restrict his ceiling potential but still he remains a threat to win.

Ben Brown NM $6.50

Brown has had an interrupted pre-season battling a calf injury, he’s still a chance to play Round 1 but his ability to be at peak fitness for the entire season is questionable right now.

Nick Larkey will compliment Brown in the Kangaroos forward line again this season, his development along with the injury concern may hinder his chances in 2020.

Josh Kennedy WC $9.00

Kennedy has had a near flawless pre-season, he kicked 6 Goals in the opening game of the Marsh Community Series and looks set for a big year despite being 32.

Kennedy won back to back Coleman Medals in 2015 & 2016, based on his current health and that West Coast midfield supply this season he will be strong chance in 2020.

Jack Darling WC $13.00

Darling fractured his cheekbone recently which did sideline him from full pre-season training, he should be right to go at Round 1 and shouldn’t have lost his fitness base.

Darling has kicked more than 50 Goals twice in a season over his AFL career, he & Kennedy should be a nightmare for opposition teams in 2020.

Jack Riewoldt RIC $15.00

Three time winner Jack Riewoldt will look to rebound from his injury hit year of 2019 with a decent return of goals this season, his unselfish game does limit his ceiling but with Lynch and he combining for a full season it is not out of the question for another Coleman Medal run.

Lance Franklin SYD $15.00

Franklin underwent knee surgery several weeks ago and is in a battle to be fit for Round 1, Buddy has shown the capability to contend for a Coleman Medal on reduced games.

The Swans will need to rebound from a poor 2019, if they do then it is likely Franklin will play a big part in the resurgence.
