Injury Update: Patrick Cripps

Carlton midfielder Patrick Cripps will consult with a specialist this week after an injuring his shoulder in Round 18, he sat out the final quarter against Brisbane. 

Cripps has struggled with his left shoulder this season.

“He has had three minor instability episodes throughout the course of the season, every time he has recovered 100 per cent. His strength has been 100 per cent going into the next game.” Blues Director of High Performance Andrew Russell.

Cripps is likely to undergo surgery, he is expected to complete a full 2021 pre-season.

“He will see a surgeon this week in Queensland and we think he is a strong chance of needing shoulder surgery”

“If we choose to go down that path he will likely have 4-6 weeks of no running: he’ll get back, he’ll have a really good running preparation and we expect him to have a full pre-season on the track and be available for Round 1.” Blues Director of High Performance Andrew Russell.

Cripps averaged 19.6 Disposals, 2.4 Marks, 4.8 Tackles & 0.4 Goals in 2020.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

The finish to the 2020 season for Cripps was poor scoring just 30pts, he was pulled from the game at 3qtr time. 

Cripps averaged 75.3pts from 17 games in 2020, he scored 80pts or more in 47.1% of games. 

Cripps will likely complete a full pre-season even if surgery is required, the Blues will likely look to add some midfield talent in the off-season which could assist the fantasy output for Cripps in 2021.
