Round 22 of the 2021 H&A season begins on Friday night, @aflratingsPete ranks the Top 5 Trade Targets Under $300K in AFL Fantasy classic.
The following list is a balanced opinion of which players to target, the comments are important to acknowledge; ability, playing role, job security, cash generation & potential scoring output have an influence on the rank.
1. Finlay Macrae (Collingwood) MID/FWD $285K BE -2
Macrae is currently being used through the midfield for the Magpies, he has averaged 67.0pts from his last 3 games. His running patterns to be involved in team ball movement is getting stronger, his ability to accumulate disposals in his first year through a midfield role is strong. He provides decent bench cover at this time of the year.
Season Ave: 41.8
2. Hugo Ralphsmith (Richmond) MID/FWD $217K BE -3
Ralphsmith was excellent last week, he recorded 17 Disposals, 4 Marks & 2 Tackles for 71pts. He won most of his ball in a wing type role, he’ll likely play a similar role for the remainder of the season. The price point for Ralphsmith is excellent, a decent score on Friday night could provide excellent bench cover or potential to be moved onto the ground via the emergency tag.
Season Ave: 40.3
3. Brodie Kemp (Carlton) MID $170K BE 24
Kemp will make his AFL debut in Round 22, he has averaged 15.2 Disposals, 5.6 Marks & 2.2 Tackles from 5 VFL games this season. He should play in defence & has the ability to match-up on various forward types, the Blues & in particular senior coach David Teague prefer him in a defensive role. If you’re looking to pay down to a minimum salary player then Kemp is a decent option at this time of the year.
Season Ave: N/A

4. James Peatling (GWS Giants) MID/DEF $240K BE -4
Peatling scored just 44pts last week after scoring 82pts on debut in Round 20. He’ll continue to play a defensive intercepting type role, his ability to keep the fantasy scores ticking over should remain solid. He should provide decent bench cover to finish the H&A season.
Season Ave: 63.0

5. Jake Bowey (Melbourne) MID/FWD $261K BE 11
Bowey has looked extremely comfortable in defence for the Demons, he’s playing a small defender role. He scored 62pts against the Eagles on Monday night, he recorded 21 Disposals, 3 Marks & 1 Tackle. Despite the elevated price tag Bowey should provide decent bench cover.
Season Ave: 53.5
