St Kilda Head of List Management James Gallagher provided an update on Adam post-draft.

“At 198cm, Oscar is a competitive and athletic key defender.”

“He took strides in his footy this year, showing his commitment by travelling nearly five hours from Mt Gambier each week to play.” Gallagher said.

2022 AFL Fantasy: Garrett McDonagh

Adams averaged 13.7 Disposals, 4.8 Marks & 1.9 Tackles in the SANFL U18s in 2021.

Fantasy Impact: Oscar Adams will add depth to the key defensive position at the Saints, he’s a tall athletic type that also has previously played through a ruck role.

He has a very strong marking ability to compliment his awareness of reading the play well, he also has excellent vision & an ability to hit targets at a high rate.

The short term fantasy prospects for Adams may be moderate, he needs to develop physically but also is highly skilled & could be utilised as a 3rd tall type defender with his intercept marking qualities.

The long term prospects are directly linked to his specific role, as a 3rd defensive tall type his scoring output could be strong but if he develops into a lock down key defender his scoring could be limited & inconsistent.

Adams would be a consideration in season long fantasy if he makes his way into the team at the Saints, it’s unlikely he will be used as a lock down key defender in his first year with his lack of body size.

He’s a pass in single season draft leagues, in dynasty leagues he might be worth taking a late flyer on just ahead of expected ADP. He could be hit or miss from a fantasy perspective, but his attributes are likely to be used over his career.
