2022 AFL Fantasy: Round 2 Top 5 Players Under $300K

Round 2 of the 2022 AFL H&A season begins on Thursday night, @aflratingsPete lists the Top 5 Players Under $300K for Round 2.

The order takes into account historical performance, ability to make a substantial profit, opportunity and scoring output in their actual team role plus subjective and balanced input.

The ability to remain best 22 is also a strong consideration.

This list will assist in identifying players to target ahead of Round 2, it may adjust based on team selection & availability.

Final updates (if any) will occur on Friday afternoon.

TOP 5 AFL FANTASY PLAYERS UNDER $300K – (FINAL UPDATE)

Nic Martin  – Out for Round 2 (currently in health and safety protocols)

1. Jack Hayes

Hayes made a significant impact for the Saints in Round 1 hitting the scoreboard, he recorded 18 disposals, 10 marks & 3 goals.

The coaching staff at the Saints have an immediate decision on their hands, the performance of Hayes has likely changed opinion on his spot in the best 22 despite the soon to be availability of Paddy Ryder.

It’s going to be tough to replicate that opening performance but the likely large salary increase is pretty difficult to pass up.

2. Josh Ward

The scoring rate wasn’t strong in Round 1 for Ward but the role through the midfield was pretty decent, his ability to win his own ball at a high rate won’t disappear overnight.

He’ll likely continue to see a mix of inside and outside midfield usage for the foreseeable future, a direct role as an inside midfielder would be preferred for optimal scoring output.

His salary is way too low not to be a consideration.

3. Paddy McCartin

McCartin finally settled late in his opening game for the Swans in defence, his scoring rate was strong enough to warrant consideration for the long term.

His position in the best 22 for Sydney is currently strong, he’ll add depth to a 30 player squad.

The Salary for McCartin still represents value.

4. Sam Skinner

Skinner finds his was into the Port Adelaide defence due to current injuries at Port Adelaide, he is coming off a very strong pre-season.

He has an ability to accumulate intercept marks at a decent rate if allowed to play his preferred role.

The scoring rate should be solid enough to provide a decent ROI.

5. Josh Sinn

Sinn makes his AFL debut in Round 2, he has excellent vision and awareness along with an ability to hit targets cutting through opposition structures.

He narrowly missed out on Round 1 team selection and has now been given his first opportunity, the match-up is friendly which should allow for a decent scoring rate.

His current salary represents value, his ability to remain best 22 will likely initially be performances based.
