↕ Liam Shiels (MB $8,400, DS $13,950)
Shiels has been a boom or bust play in 2018 scoring 100pts or more in 2 games and fewer than 80pts in the other 2, he is averaging 96.5pts this season but that rises up to an average of 107.3pts from 3 winning games & his worst result of 64pts coming in a loss to Richmond in Round 3.
Since the beginning of last year Shiels has averaged 89.6pts when Tom Mitchell has scored 100pts or more, when Mitchell scores fewer than 100pts the average for Shiels jumps to 107.0pts. The sample size is small when Mitchell fails (3 games) but it is definitely worth taking in to consideration, the prospects for Mitchell being tagged against Nth Melbourne are at a mid-high level of confidence.
It is worth throwing Shiels in to a few line-ups without Tom Mitchell & vice versa.
↗ David Swallow (MB $8,100, DS $13,900)
The arrival as Stuart Dew as Head Coach at Gold Coast has rejuvenated the career of Swallow, he is averaging 102.8pts this season scoring 100pts or more in 3 of 4 games. Swallow has averaged 109.0pts from winning games this year & 96.5pts in the last 2 losing games at Optus Stadium (Perth) in Rounds 3 & 4.
Gold Coast will start narrow underdogs against Brisbane on Sunday afternoon at the Gabba, if you think the Suns can get over the line for a win then rostering Swallow at his price will likely deliver some value to your team.
Swallow won’t be overly popular on the Sunday slate, he is definitely worth considering based on his good start to the 2018 H&A season.
