Travis Varcoe injured his shoulder at pre-season training on Monday, as a result he requires reconstructive surgery.
Varcoe will now miss a significant period of the pre-season, he will also miss the opening rounds of the 2020 H&A season.
“The injury is disappointing for Trav, who has put a lot of work in to his pre-season training”
“While Trav will miss some early rounds of the season, we’ll have a better idea of his return date once he’s out of surgery.” Collingwood Performance & Strategy Manager Marcus Wagner
Varcoe averaged 12.4 Disposals, 3.8 Marks, 2.6 Tackles & 0.6 Goals from 16 games in 2019, he has played in 72.0% of games since the beginning of the 2018 H&A season.

AFL FANTASY TAKE
Varcoe isn’t considered a fantasy option in either classic or draft, he averaged 53.4pts from 16 games in 2019 sometimes not being a preferred option under coach Nathan Buckley.
The Varcoe injury does open the door for others at Collingwood early in the season, as the pre-season unfolds we will get a clearer picture of how the Magpies will line-up at Round 1.
