Port Adelaide midfielder Willem Drew has been sidelined with a foot injury, he sustained the injury in the final Marsh Community Series game against the Western Bulldogs.

Drew has undergone surgery and is expected to be sidelined for an extended period of time, the Power will provide a more formal time frame for a return in the coming weeks.

“We sought various opinions both locally and interstate on the best management for Willem’s injury and ultimately we decided surgery would be the best option,”

He is recovering well after the operation and we’ll establish a timeline for his return in the coming weeks.” Port Adelaide Head of Medical Services Tim O’Leary.

Drew played 10 games in the 2019 season for the Power, he averaged 15.9 Disposals, 2.2 Marks, & 5.6 Tackles.

Drew was competing for a spot in the Port Adelaide midfield at Round 1, his absence will reduce the players competing for limited spots.

Expect Travis Boak, Tom Rockliff & Dan Houston to carry the early season load at centre bounces.
