Fremantle defender Alex Pearce has undergone further surgery on his left ankle, he initially injured the ankle in Round 11 last season.
Pearce underwent surgery in December to assist in the final stages of recovery, the latest surgery was undertaken due to discomfort during a recent fitness session.
It is not known when Pearce will be available to return this season, the Dockers will provide an update once he begins further rehab.
“Alex consulted a specialist and the advice was that he undergo surgery on a small area of the fracture at the front of his ankle”
“Once Alex has recovered from the surgery and commenced his rehabilitation phase we will have a better understanding of when he can resume training.” Dockers GM of Football Peter Bell.
Pearce averaged 10.8 Disposals, 3.3 Marks & 2.1 Tackles from 11 games in 2019.

When Pearce is eventually ready for a return there will likely be a log jam for key defenders at Fremantle, first year player Hayden Young will also look to fit into a defensive role at some stage while Tobe Watson was impressive in the 2020 March Community Series.
Adam Cerra was also highlighted by the Fremantle coaching staff as a defensive option if Luke Ryan became unavailable in Round 1 this season due to injury, Ryan eventually played.
Pearce is a pass in season long fantasy.
