Injury Update: Sam Draper

Sam Draper has been sidelined with an ankle injury, the incident occurred in a marking contest against Port Adelaide in Round 2.

Draper has likely sustained a syndesmosis injury, scans this week will confirm the diagnosis.

“Sam will see a specialist in the coming days with confirmation of a syndesmosis injury, but we are hopeful he will be back and playing for the second half of the season.” Bombers GM of Football Josh Mahoney.

Essendon are likely to provide a further update in the upcoming period.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

Draper scored 78pts in Round 1, he is the No.1 ruck option for the Bombers.

The injury will force a change at the ruck position for the Bombers, Andrew Phillips is currently injured while Peter Wright has been the No.2 option early in the season. 

Nick Bryan was impressive enough in the pre-season, he is likely to make his AFL debut over the period that Draper is out. .
