Round 3 of the 2021 H&A season begins on Thursday night, @aflratingsPete ranks the Top 5 Trade Targets Under $300K in AFL Fantasy classic.Â
The following list is a balanced opinion of which players to target, the comments are important to acknowledge; ability, playing role, job security, cash generation & potential scoring output have an influence on the rank.Â
1.Matt Flynn (GWS Giants) RUCK $281K BE -24
This will be the last week to grab Matt Flynn under $300K, the current GWS No.1 Ruck option has been outstanding in his opening 2 games at AFL level averaging 85.5pts. He will face a decent challenge in Round 3 against Max Gawn & Luke Jackson, at his current Break Even (BE) another significant salary increase will occur.Â
Season Ave: 85.5
2. James Jordon (Melbourne) MID $282K BE -39
Jordon has been excellent in his first 2 games at AFL level, despite seeing a reduction in centre bounce usage in Round 2 with the return of Jack Viney he was still able to impact recording 20 Disposals, 6 Marks & 9 Tackles. He will see another significant salary increase this week.
Season Ave: 92.5

3. Chad Warner (Sydney) FWD $263K BE -12
With James Rowbottom sidelined with a knee injury last week Warner was able to get to work more as an inside midfielder recording 20 Disposals & 4 Tackles, he did see a spike in centre bounce usage. His impact was strong enough which could lead to a more consistent usage through the midfield, another decent salary jump in Round 3 is likely.  Â
Season Ave: 69.0
4. Will Phillips (Nth Melbourne) MID $266K BE 38
Phillips will make his AFL debut in Round 3, he was selected at pick 3 in the 2020 AFL Draft. He averaged 22.1 Disposals in the 2019 NAB League, he also averaged 9.1 contested possessions. Expect to see Phillips run through the midfield at times early in his career while long term he should be a pure inside midfielder. The match-up won’t be an easy debut against the Bulldogs, however he should be a priority either this week or next week if the midfield usage is high.Â
*Be aware Nth Melbourne did announce Charlie Lazzaro for a debut in Round 1 & he was the medical sub.
Season Ave: N/A

5. Sam Berry (Adelaide) MID $262K BE 2
Berry has had a high impact early in both games at AFL level, in Round 2 he could have easily added 3-4 goals but it was not to be. His tackle numbers remain high recording 10 against the Swans last week, another solid outing in Round 3 should see a decent rise in salary.Â
Season Ave: 58.5
