Round 19 of the 2021 H&A season begins on Friday night, @aflratingsPete ranks the Top 5 Trade Targets Under $300K in AFL Fantasy classic.
The following list is a balanced opinion of which players to target, the comments are important to acknowledge; ability, playing role, job security, cash generation & potential scoring output have an influence on the rank.
1. Connor West (West Coast) MID $202K BE -10
West was excellent on debut last week for the Eagles, he recorded 19 Disposals, 4 Marks & 4 Tackles against the Crows. He played forward & through the midfield, he was used at 30.8% of centre bounces.
West Coast senior coach Adam Simpson has been strong on the role for West, expect solid midfield usage to finish out the season & provide a very healthy ROI.
Season Ave: 76.0
2. Sam Durham (Essendon) MID/DEF $186K BE 8
Durham was solid on debut last week for the Bombers, he recorded 11 Disposals, 5 Marks & 1 Tackle against the Kangaroos at Metricon Stadium. He started in defence & moved up the ground as the game progressed, Essendon senior coach Ben Rutten was quite complimentary in his post game press conference on the first gamer.
If Durham can hold his spot over the coming weeks, he’ll provide a very good ROI.
Season Ave: 49.0
3. Ned Reeves (Hawthorn) RUCK $290K BE -1
Reeves came back into the Hawks team last week & scored 49pts, he recorded 9 Disposals & 19 Hit Outs. His BE (Break Even) remains pretty solid at -1, it is likely the Hawks will continue with his development at AFL level to close out the season. If Reeves can get more share of the ruck duties in the current dual ruck set-up at Hawthorn his fantasy output to finish the year should be solid.
Season Ave: 65.3

4. Trey Ruscoe (Collingwood) FWD $220K BE -1
Ruscoe was solid in defence for the Magpies last week, he recorded 23 Disposals, 5 Marks & 1 Tackle for 77pts. If he can settle into that role to finish out the season expect a pretty decent fantasy return, with a low BE (Break Even) a short to medium term healthy ROI is likely.
Season Ave: 32.8

5. Finlay Macrae (Collingwood) MID/FWD $216K BE 59
Macrae comes back into the starting line-up for Collingwood on Friday night, his scoring output at AFL level has been stifled by usage as the medical sub & being played away from the midfield. He has averaged 25.8 Disposals, 3.0 Marks & 5.3 Tackles from 4 games at VFL level this season through a midfield role.
Despite the high BE (Break Even), the potential upside in scoring for Macrae should be decent if he can become part of the midfield rotation.
Season Ave: 26.6
