Josh Sinn could be close to a Round 1 AFL debut.
Selected at pick 12 in the 2021 AFL Draft the 19 year old is closing in on selecting early in the year on the back of a very solid pre-season at Port Adelaide.
Senior coach Ken Hinkley provided insight into Sinn and what can happen with a first year player in the AFL system.

“I think Josh has grown really strongly in his first full pre-season, temper is probably not I don’t think it is just the right word, I think we’re just being cautious around the fact that he hasn’t played much football.”
“Physically there’s some challenges with that when you’ve only had 6 games of football and you come into an AFL program, you might train 3 times a week at 100 minutes at a day, it can test you and challenge you to physically stand up, as a young player one thing we do know in their first year they get very tired very quickly.”
“We’re just mindful of that with Josh and Dante (Visentini) and Jase Burgoyne, all the younger players that we bring into our program every year.”
“I’ve always been of the opinion that rest is not something they need unless they’re genuinely are out on their feet, I think we sometimes look for rest, I don’t.”
Port Adelaide Update: Midfield
“He’s around the mark (for Round 1), he’s in the squad tomorrow.”
“If you’re in the squad in the last round of pre-season, you’re a genuine chance to play Round 1.”
“Doesn’t mean you’re a lock, you’re a genuine chance though.” He said.
Hinkley also confirmed that this year “there’ll be games that we probably playing two rucks, there’ll be games we might be playing one ruck”.
