AFL Round 1 Team Changes

CARLTON

Late Changes: Nil

Sub: Durdin
(Sub last game: Jack Carroll)

Key players missing: Sam Docherty, Jesse Motlop, Sam Walsh, Jack Silvagni.

Injury List: Carlton

AFLRATINGS Fantasy Notes: Sam Docherty (knee) will miss the remainder of the 2024 AFL season, Jack Carroll replaced Docherty after HT last week and was impressive through the midfield which included centre bounce usage. George Hewett produced a strong scoring output last week with 100pts, he was used at 69.0% of team centre bounces. Carlton did concede multiple scores early against Brisbane last week but were solid in defence to finish the game. Harry McKay and Charlie Curnow should be in a favourable situation on Thursday night against a Richmond team that conceded 29 scores last week.

RICHMOND

AFLRATINGS NEWS: Tony Nankervis and Tom Lynch will play 80% of their normal minutes on Thursday night (via Adem Yze).

Late Changes: Nil

Sub: Mansell
(Sub last game: Jack Ross)

Key players missing: Jack Graham.

Injury List: Richmond

AFLRATINGS Fantasy Notes: Richmond were under immense pressure early last week as they weren’t able to stop the Gold Coast scoring opportunities. The Tigers did improve after HT and appeared to be quite settled in their ball movement. Richmond recorded just 273 disposals against the Suns. Jayden Short (AF 103pts) did see plenty of fantasy scoring opportunities inside D50 and was used at 53.3% of kick-ins for the game. Toby Nankervis should provide stability at ruck stoppages on Thursday night. Tom Lynch is set to be on managed minutes after his lengthy recovery from a foot injury. Dustin Martin and Shai Bolton are both likely to play through the midfield and forward.
