Isaac Heeney injured his thumb at training earlier this week, as a result he will undergo surgery on Thursday.
Heeney is set to be placed in a brace & will avoid contact training for at least the next month, last year he injured his ankle in a pre-season game but still managed to play a full season for the Swans.
“Scans confirmed a fracture in his thumb so he will undergo surgery tomorrow to repair the break.”
“Isaac is obviously disappointed but he should be back running in a matter of days and we’re confident he will be available for the start of the season.” Swans Head of Football Charlie Gardiner.
Heeney averaged 20.0 Disposals, 5.7 Marks, 3.9 Tackles & 1.2 Goals in 2019, he has played in 92.6% of games since the beginning of the 2016 H&A season.

AFL FANTASY TAKE
Yet another interrupted pre-season for Heeney, it is frustrating for those looking at selecting him at the beginning of the 2020 H&A season.
Despite the injuries Heeney has been quite durable over his career, unfortunately this may be restricting his fantasy output along with his split Midfield/Forward role.
It is likely Heeney is now a downgrade on your pre-season watch list in classic, he likely slides an additional round in draft.
