Harley Bennell has been signed by Melbourne via the SSP (Supplemental Selection Period), he joins the Demons after being delisted by Fremantle last season.

“Harley’s positive attitude has seen him been embraced by the playing group and seen him develop close relationships in a short time.”

“Harley’s journey will be long-term, and both he and the club are aligned in where he’s currently at in terms of making a return to playing” Demons GM of Football Operations Josh Mahoney.

Bennell has played 83 games over his career at Fremantle & Gold Coast, he has a career average of 21.7 Disposals from 83 games.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

Melbourne will very much take a slow approach prior to Bennell making his AFL return, his scoring ability will make an impact if he returns this season.

Bennell has a career average of 82.5pts, he averaged a career season high 92.0pts in his final year at Gold Coast in 2015.

Bennell is initially a pass in classic with a downgrade possibility (224K MID per @WarnieDT), he could be a late round draft option in very deep leagues.
