Sydney key forward Sam Reid underwent knee surgery in late March, he did not play in Round 1.

Reid is not expected to miss an extended period of training, with football still in shutdown mode the Swans are certainly in no rush for his return.

“He developed some soreness in his knee training in the lead-up to round one and he actually had a scan which showed he had damage to his meniscus.”

“He had an arthroscope in late March just to clean that up. It was a fairly straightforward clean up.” Swans Head of Football Charlie Gardiner.

Reid averaged 11.5 Disposals, 5.0 Marks & 1.3 Goals from 22 games in 2019.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

The Swans opted for a small forward line in Round 1 against Adelaide, Reid will be an option to return at some stage this season but also take into account the return of Lance Franklin.

Expect Nick Blakely to be pushed into more of a wing type role once Franklin &/or Reid resume playing.

Reid is not considered an option in season long fantasy, he averaged 80.8pts when kicking 2 Goals or more last season.
