Brisbane Update: Jarrod Berry

AFL Fantasy News: There has been an update on the role for Jarrod Berry.

Speaking on SEN Thursday morning Brisbane senior coach Chris Fagan said that there was a requirement to strengthen the wing role and Berry would be that player to move on the outside.

“He’s a good inside mid, we know that.”

“But it just felt like we needed to strengthen our wing,”

“He’s probably with Harry Sharp the best runner at our club.”

“And having a player that’s got the capacity to run up and down one side of the game for the majority of the time and not have to come off (the ground) too much is something I thought would be good for our team.”

“The good part about it is that he’s embraced that really well,”

“Last week was a real breakthrough for him.”

“We know we’ve got the option of putting him inside but right now it helps us if he plays there (wing).”

“He’s played some important roles for the team this year both as a tagger and on a wing and as an inside mid, so he’s becoming a pretty diverse sort of a player.”

“And I think that’s important for us and for him in his development that he can go and do a few different things.” Fagan said.

He also added “the aim” for Cam Rayner was to become more of a mid in the future.

“He probably still plays forward a little bit more than he plays mid but that percentage is gradually changing,”

“I don’t know where it will end up by the end of the year, maybe it will be a bit more 50-50.”

“Just hopefully he can keep developing the fitness and the resilience to play in there (midfield) and we’re able to put him there,”

“Because there’s been a few occasions this year where we lost Joey (Daniher) early in the game against Sydney and Dan McStay early in the game against West Coast where he (Rayner) had to go forward and play as a tall forward.” Fagan said.
