AFLRATINGS NEWS: Zak Butters has informed Port Adelaide his want to depart the club via free agency.
Butters is now a restricted free agent following the 2026 AFL season.

He is yet to make public which club he will sign with, Port Adelaide has indicated they’ll match any offer for Butters.
Port Adelaide statement:
Port Adelaide has been informed by Zak Butters and his management that he intends to exercise his rights as a restricted free agent and explore a return home to Victoria.
Zak has been an outstanding servant to the football club since debuting in 2019. He is a three-time John Cahill Medallist and dual All-Australian and we thank him for everything he has given to Port Adelaide.
The club will now work to facilitate the best outcome for Port Adelaide through this process.
Butters averaged 29.8 disposals, 3.5 marks, 4.2 tackles from 17 games in 2026, he played his final game for Port Adelaide in Round 18 after sustaining an ankle injury.
