Melbourne key forward Matt Jefferson was assessed for a knee concern against the Bulldogs on Saturday at the MCG.

Jefferson was assisted from the ground in Q3 and did not return to the game.

Melbourne confirmed a knee issue throughout the game.

Jefferson has undergone further assessment to determine the severity of the injury, he has been cleared of structural damage but has some bone bruising.

He is a test for this week.

“Jeffo pulled up well and, similar to Disco, has avoided any substantial ligament damage,”

“He does have a little bit of bone bruising, so we’ll progress him based on his pain and function.”

“He was out at training today and got some running in. We’ll continue to work closely with him to see if we can integrate him this week and have him ready for our finals campaign.” Melbourne AFL High-Performance Manager Selwyn Griffith on Tuesday.

Jefferson is averaging 7.6 disposals, 2.9 marks, 1.4 tackles and 1.1 goals this season (AFL PPM: 0.54).
