Western Bulldogs key defender Aaron Naughton was assessed for a right ankle concern against Melbourne on Saturday at the MCG.

Naughton came from the ground in Q2 and did not return.

The Bulldogs confirmed an ankle issue throughout the game.

Naughton has undergone further assessment to determine the severity of the injury, he will be a test for this week.

“Aaron landed awkwardly in an aerial contest in the third quarter and damaged a ligament in the outside of his ankle joint, and has associated swelling and symptoms,”

“With our short turnaround into the Pies on Friday night, we are working around the clock to make sure that his ankle injury improves across the next 72 hours to align his availability for Friday night.” Bulldogs Head of Sports Medicine Chris Bell.

Naughton is averaging 11.1 disposals, 4.8 marks, 1.4 marks and 2.1 goals this season (AF PPM: 0.77).

Western Bulldogs next play Collingwood on Friday night August 28 at the MCG.
